The Sons of Emperor Norton and The Beat Meters regret to acknowledge the passing of our great friend Cary Griffin. He was an incredible musician, drummer, bandleader, arranger, singer and a positive, enthusiastic, supportive, selfless human being. He will be sorely missed.
A tribute is in the works. His band's website is at http://www.myspace.com/loosegravelfunk, and I know he'd love it if you checked it out and the New Orleans funk that he played, studied, and dug so much. His guitarist Carl Dreyer is at cfdreyer@comcast.net if you need more info.
Also, we just were informed that our friend Kate Klein, who played and supported our "Battle Hymns for the Blue States CD" as music director of KMUD Garberville, recently passed awy of cancer. The KMUD website has info and podcasts of her final radio shows.
